Vivian Martha Lance, 96, of Dawsonville passed away on Saturday September 1, 2018. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she had touched in some way throughout her very memorable life.
Born July 20, 1922 in Fitzgerald, Georgia, Vivian retired from the Accounting Department at Kroger in 1972 and she and her husband Carl moved to Dawsonville on Labor Day 1974. Vivian and Carl loved to camp and travel all over meeting wonderful lifelong friends. She was a former Chief Bailiff for Dawson County and was also a Charter Member and Past President of both the Dawson County Women’s Club and the Dawson County Grandmother’s Club. Vivian was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Dawsonville. For those people blessed to know her and who were touched by her, understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Make every day county. Vivian loved going out and socializing, spending quality time with friends and family, fellowshipping together. She had the most amazing smile that could light up a room. She did not want to take advantage of anyone and appreciated all that was done for her. Mrs. Lance was preceded in death by her husband whom she truly adored, Carl C. Lance; son, Andrew Steven Lance; mother, Clarice Benham and her husband Vernon Benham; father, Joe McEachern; brother, Donald T. McEachern; and her grandmother, Martha White.
Survivors include her son, Jerry M. Lance and his wife Michelle, Dahlonega, son, Wendell McKinnon and his wife, Wanda, Steinhatche, FL; grandchildren, Wendy and Jerry Lance, Jr., Regis Lance, Hope, Jennifer, Jesse and Justin McKinnon; great grandsons, Connor McKinnon, Abraham, Raupp and Nash McKinnon. She is also survived by many, many friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday September 6, 2018 at 3 o’clock at the First Baptist Church of Dawsonville. Rev. Stan Lovell and Dr. Jim Gaines will officiate. Interment will follow in Dawsonville Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends are invited to the reception in the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall after returning from the cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 until 8 at the funeral home.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Dawson County Humane Society, 633 Martin Road, Dawsonville, GA 30534.
