Ouida Jones Strickland

 Mrs. Ouida Jones Strickland, age 82, of Flowery Branch, passed away peacefully after an extended illness on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, September 2, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Reverend Phil Carpenter will officiate.  The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 1, 2018 from 6 – 8 pm at the funeral home. 

Mrs. Strickland was born on December 10, 1935 to the late J. V. Jones and Myrtie Gilleland Jones.  She married her soul mate and life-long love, Bobby Lee Strickland on August 21, 1955.  Ouida was of the Christian faith and leaned on her Lord and Savior throughout her life.  She was a homemaker and dedicated her life to her husband, Bobby, her two sons, Danny and Alan, and their families.  Ouida found great joy in making those around her feel special and cared for.  A true nurturer, she always greeted her guests with a warm smile, a hug and a bit of coffee and cake.  She was revered for her wise counsel and her honest nature.  Ouida loved deeply and in turn was deeply loved.  To know her, was to love her.  “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”  II Timothy 4:7.   Ouida was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bobby Lee Strickland, her son, Alan (Bub) Strickland, her sisters, Jenneter Jones Clark and Reba Jones Reed and her daughter-in-law, Kimberly Stacy Strickland. 

Mrs. Strickland is survived by her son, Danny Strickland of Chestnut Mountain, her daughter-in-law, Tammy Strickland Harrison and Tammy’s husband, Pete of Gillsville, her grandchildren, Josh & Jennifer Strickland of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Isaac & Hester Strickland of Ludowici, Georgia, D. J. & Taylor Strickland of Chestnut Mountain, Hunter Strickland of Braselton, Ashley & Eric Dale of Gillsville, Allie Ouida Ann & Josh Burns of Gillsville and Alex Douglas Strickland of Gillsville, her great-grandchildren, Emma, Logan, Anna, Addison, William, Millie and J. T., her sister & brother-in-law, Barbara & Bobby Davis of Buford, her brother & sister-in-law, Jimmy &  Ramona Jones of Gainesville, her brothers-in-law, Kenneth Clark of Chestnut Mountain and Garrett Reed of Buford and her great-aunt, Ola Adams of Buford.  Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
