Edmund Scott Giddes, age 57 of Cumming Georgia passed away at his home on August 20, 2018. Scott was born in Fort Dix, New Jersey on September 22, 1960.
Scott is survived by his wife, Beth Ann Giddes, parents Edmund and Mary Giddes; children; Heather Johnson (Andrew) of Marietta, GA; Tressie Norrell (Johnathan) of Canton, GA; Olivia Cobb of Cumming, GA; Chandler Giddes (Ashley) of Dacula, GA; Caitlyn Cobb of Cumming, GA; Zach Giddes of Cumming, GA and India Meghan Giddes of Alpharetta, GA; sister Karen Giddes of Hoschton, GA and eleven grandchildren.
For those who knew him, words may come to mind like Pedantic, Intelligent, Bulldog, Father, Husband, Teacher, Leader, and Love.
Scott graduated from Milton High School. Following high school, Scott chose the University of Georgia as his alma mater and graduated with a Master’s degree in Social Work.
His professional career started in teaching and helping troubled youth as the Executive Director at Vashti in Thomasville, GA. Upon returning to Alpharetta, GA. he changed careers and moved into the IT field working for SunTrust and Cox Communications as a computer savant.
His passions were his family first; his parents; his wife and his seven children; his eleven grandchildren who knew him as “Poppa G”. He enjoyed reading, and he loved sports cars. He enjoyed spending time in the mountains, and at the Covered Bridge with his family.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 23, 2018 from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm at Grace Chapel Church of Christ. Service will begin at 2:00 pm with interment to follow at Rest Haven Cemetery in Alpharetta, GA.
