Margaret “Sue” Martin

Mrs. Margaret “Sue” Martin, age 81 of Oakwood, passed away on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

Memorial services are scheduled for Friday, August 17, 2018at 5:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home.  Reverend Jeff Benefield will officiate the service with Mrs. Teresa Parker providing the eulogy of “Sue’s life”.  The family will receive friends on Friday, August 17, 2018 from 3 – 5 pm, prior to the service, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Martin was born August 17, 1936 in Chestnut Mountain, Georgia to the late Ralph Turk and Lounelle Benefield Turk.  She was retired from Hall County School System, where she taught school 31 years, along with 2 years where she taught school in Buford.  Sue was a member of Chestnut Mountain Church and was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles Eugene Martin and her sister & brother-in-law, Shirley & Richard McNeal.

Mrs. Martin is survived by her precious daughter & son-in-law, Angie & Bobby Standridge of Gainesville, her grandchildren, Josh Rhodes of Gainesville, Abby Rhodes of Oakwood, Shane Standridge of Gainesville and Ashley Standridge of Stone Mountain, her sisters & brothers-in-law, Nancy & Harold Nichols and Martha & Kenneth Walker, all of Chestnut Mountain, her sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Shirley & Harold Hughes of Gainesville, brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Loyd & Ellen Martin of Gainesville and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Flowers are accepted or you may make donations to Atlanta Botanical Gardens, 1911 Sweetbay Drive, Gainesville, GA 30501.
