Monroe V. Hooper, age 74, of Buford, GA, passed away Saturday, August 4, 2018. He was born June 1, 1944, the son of Woodrow Wilson and Willa Mae Hooper of Blue Ridge, GA. Monroe graduated from East Fannin County High School in 1964. He married Nancy Young Hooper of Clarkesville, Georgia in 1966 and the couple moved to Atlanta when he began his career as a Lineman with Georgia Power. Monroe and Nancy moved to Buford, GA in 1970. He was an active member of the Gwinnett County Community throughout his life and served as the PTA President at Harmony Elementary School, President of the "Battling Bulldog Band" Booster Club, the North Gwinnett Basketball Association, and was a member of Suwanee United Methodist Church. He was an avid reader and loved learning about Native American History. Monroe retired from Jackson Electric Membership Corporation after 34 years of dedicated service. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancy Young Hooper; daughters, Rhonda Hooper Newton and Will Mobley, Auburn, GA, Amy Hooper Piper and husband Billy Piper, Canton, GA; grandchildren, Peyton Wesley Piper, Madelyn Caroline Piper, and Hope Rebecca Mobley; sister, Forresteen Hawkins and husband Lee Hawkins, Mineral Bluff, GA; brother, John Linnerson and wife Connie of Traverse City, MI; niece, Vicki and Damon Davenport, Morganton, GA; nephews, Michael Buchannan, Blue Ridge, GA, Derrick and Margie Buchannan, Morganton, GA, Jerry and Cheynne Hawkins, Mineral Bluff, GA. The celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Davenport officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2018. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Eagle Ranch, Attn: Grace Home, P. O.
