Mrs. Connie Elaine Wolfanger Payne, age 68 of Roberts Way, Cornelia, Georgia passed away Saturday, August 4, 2018 at her residence.
A daughter of Donald Wolfanger and the late Emma Rook Wolfanger, she was born April 5, 1950
in Wayland, New York. She was a graduate of Canandaigua Community College in New York and Geneseo State College in New York with a Bachelor’s Degree in Childhood Education (K-12). She was a K-12 and Special Education Teacher in Habersham and Stephens County for a number of years. She was a member of Grace Fellowship in Mt. Airy where she served as Sunday School Superintendent, Secretary and Treasurer and a member of the Praise Team. She was a member of the Currahee Quilters Guild. She was a faithful supporter of Powerhouse for Kids, St. Jude’s and Samaritan’s Purse. Her heart was also with Love A Child Foundation in Haiti. She knitted hundreds of beanies for the children in Haiti as well as the Children in the other charitable organizations that she regularly supported. She was preceded in death by her mother, Emma Rook Wolfanger and by a sister, Roxie Wolfanger.
Survivors include her father, Donald Wolfanger of Bath, New York; husband of the home, Anthony Payne; two sons, Colin Payne of Cornelia, Georgia and Ethan Payne of Toccoa; step-children, Michelle and Chris Shellnut of Helen, Georgia and Christina and Scott Morgan of Cleveland, Georgia; grandchildren, Christianna Payne, Angel Payne, Zachary Shellnut and Isaac Shellnut; brother, Harold Andrews of Sheldon, Washington; sisters, Beverly Wolfanger of Elkin, North Carolina, Christine Applebe of Dundee, New York, Randa Insho of Bath, New York and Valerie Stephens of Strawberry Plains, Tennessee; a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 8. 2018, 11 O’clock a.m. at Grace Fellowship in Mt. Airy, Georgia with The Reverend Mike Garroutte officiating.
The family will be at the home on Roberts Way in Cornelia and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Tuesday, 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Online condolences can be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.
