James David "Jim" Welborn

James David “Jim” Welborn, age 76, of Flowery Branch, Georgia formerly of Cornelia, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2018.

Mr. Welborn was born on November 7, 1941 in Cornelia, Georgia to the late Harold Martin and Georgia Hardy Welborn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Welborn. Mr. Welborn was a graduate of South Habersham High School; and a member of First Baptist Church of Cornelia. He was a United States Air Force Veteran. Mr. Welborn was a sales representative for AFLAC Insurance Company.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Nancy Welborn, of Demorest; son and girlfriend, David Welborn and Christy Carpenter, of Flowery Branch; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Sally Welborn, of Demorest; grandsons, Preston Welborn and Peyton Welborn, both of Demorest;

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 29, 2018 at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel with Rev. David Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the U. S. Air Force, Grant Reeves VFW Post 7720, American Legion Post 84, and the Rabun County DAV #15.  

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, July 28, 2018 at the funeral home.
