Mr. Thomas “Tom” Ronald Bennett, age 63 of Highway 184, Toccoa passed away July 13, 2018 in Greenville Memorial Hospital from injuries sustained in an auto accident.
A son of Faye Wright Bennett and the late Ronald Bennett, he was born October 26, 1954 in Fulton County, Georgia having lived most of his life in Toccoa. He was a retired Veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served in Vietnam and Desert Storm. He worked with the Toccoa Police Department and the Stephens County Sheriff’s Department and served as the County Marshal for a number of years. He was currently employed with North Georgia Tech as a Campus Police Officer for the Toccoa Campus. He served and coached Little League was a member of the V.F.W. and the D.A.V. and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his mother, Faye Wright Bennett of Toccoa; wife of the home, Ginger Sparks Bennett; two daughters and son-in-law, Samantha Elliott and Amanda and Robby Hightower both of Jefferson, Georgia; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Raushan Bennett of Kazakhstan, Russia; step-daughter, Brittany Johnson and husband Chris of Dahlonega, Georgia; sister, Debra Williams of Daytona Beach, Florida; mother-in-law, Mildred Sparks of Toccoa; five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 21, 2018, 11 O’clock a.m. at Grace Baptist Church with The Reverend Joey Whitlock and The Reverend Andy Childs officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Eddie Neal, Ken Cox, Butch Newkirk, William Hayes, Bobby King and Michael Mayo. The Hall County Honor Guard and Law Enforcement from across the state will serve as Honorary Escort. Pallbearers and Honorary Escort should meet at the Funeral Home by 10:00 a.m.
