Franklin R. “Cork” Lovell

Mr. Franklin R. “Cork” Lovell, age 86, of Flowery Branch, GA passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018 due to a brief illness.  

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Verdie and Leila Lovell, wife, Opal Lovell, brothers, Troy Lovell, Ray Lovell, Edwin Lovell, sister Marie Underwood, daughter-in-law, Susan Lovell, and granddaughter Brittany Miller. He is survived by his children, Donald Lovell of Alto, GA, Jerry Lovell and his wife Teresa of Gainesville, GA, and Donna Duncan and her husband Chris of Flowery Branch, GA; grandchildren, Donny Lovell and his wife Trina of Cleveland, GA, Rhonda Miller and her husband Shane of Alto, GA, Kristin Lovell of Jefferson, GA, Charlie Lovell of Gainesville, GA and Ryan Duncan of Flowery Branch, GA; great grandchildren, Dustin Lovell and wife Alyse of Cornelia, GA, Dylan Lovell of Cleveland, GA, Kimberly Eller and husband Matthew of Gainesville, GA, Michael Miller of Alto, GA, Jessie Lovell, Jacob Lovell and Kelsey Lovell of Gainesville, GA; step-great grandchild, Kyle Smith of Cleveland, GA; great-great grandchildren, Daston Lovell of Cornelia, GA, Keeliegh Eller, Madalyn Eller, and Zoey Eller of Gainesville, GA, Lyla Burnette and Amelia Burnette of Jefferson; brother Tom Lovell and his wife Betty of Cornelia, GA and sisters Thelma Smith of Blairsville, GA and Frances Hughes and her husband Ray of Blairsville, GA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Lovell was born on July 20, 1931 in Blairsville, GA.  He served in the United States Armed Forces in Germany from 1952 to 1954 with an honorable discharge.  He worked at Milliken cotton mill for many years, followed by Peachtree Windows and Doors until he retired.  He then worked at Lovell’s Service Station as a mechanic until he was 85 years of age.  He was also a long time member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Gainesville, GA.  

Mr. Lovell was known by many names; Franklin, Frank, Cork, Daddy and Paw Paw.  He loved to camp with his family in the North Georgia Mountains close to where he was born and raised.  

On Friday July 20, 2018, which would have been his 87th birthday, there will be a celebration of life service at 11:00 am at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel in Gainesville, GA with Rev. Brian Malcom officiating.  A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, July 19th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
