Mr. Benjamin Lafayette “B. L.” Lipscomb, age 91 of Fayetteville, passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at his residence.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, July 20, 2018 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Johnny Stone and Reverend Darryl Dale will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 20, 2018 from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm, prior to the service, at the funeral home.
Mr. Lipscomb was born July 9, 1927 in Gainesville, Georgia to the late Thomas Lafayette Lipscomb and Nannie Hawkins Lipscomb. He was retired from General Motors, a proud, very dedicated union member of Local #10, known to friends and co-workers as “Lip” and also served in the U S Army as Private 1st Class in the Korean War. B. L. was a faithful husband, loving daddy and Papa. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 50 years, Margaret England Lipscomb, his sisters, Nan Nelms, Sarah Cagle and twin sisters, Ruth & Ruby Lipscomb. B. L. was a member of Springway Baptist Church.
Mr. Lipscomb is survived by his son, Benny Lipscomb of Gainesville, his daughter and son-in-law, Becky & Jan Garber of Fayetteville, Georgia, sister, Maudine Orr, granddaughter & husband, Ashley & Jason Pitts of Gainesville, great-grandchildren, MeKayla Pitts, Maci Pitts, Marlee Pitts and Jaxson Pitts, all of Gainesville, special niece, Casey Leach of Gainesville and niece of heart, Marta Arcos of Flowery Branch.
