Frank Allen Waters, following a period of declining health, passed away on July 18, 2018, at The Gardens of Gainesville. A long-time resident of Gainesville, Allen was born in Ellijay, Georgia, where he spent the majority of his childhood and youth. Son of the late Minnie and Jim Waters, Allen is survived by his sister, Jimmie Ann Miller of Marietta, nephews Jim Miller and Greg Miller, niece Carolyn Frye, and their respective children.
A graduate of the University of Georgia, Allen will always be remembered in Gainesville and the surrounding areas as the owner of the place to shop for fine furniture, furnishings, and gifts. Clients near and far sought Allen’s expertise and assistance in designing and furnishing their interior decors. Known simply as Allen Waters, the store was home to many faithful employees and countless loyal customers until Allen’s retirement and closing of the business.
Special appreciation is extended to his many caregivers and friends at The Gardens, especially Jenny Mancin, and to the nurses of Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Their loving care and compassion were extraordinary.
A Celebration of Life, officiated by the Reverend Joy Pruett, will be held on July 28, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at Luna’s Restaurant, located at Hunt Tower, 200 Main Street, Gainesville. Condolences may be expressed online, www.littledavenport.com, and memorial contributions in Allen’s name may be made to North Georgia Community Foundation, 615 Oak Street, Gainesville, GA 30501.
