Barbara Jane Carradice Eden

Obituary Date: Tuesday, July 17, 2018

Barbara Jane Carradice Eden, 80, of Gainesville passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018 peacefully at her home with her loving husband by her side.  She was born on September 8, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois to Iva Lewis Kirke and Sydney Burton Carradice.

Barbara was the past President of the St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital Auxiliary in Effingham, Illinois.  She retired from Pilgrim Estes Furniture after twenty-nine years.  She also volunteered for many years at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Auxiliary.  Barbara married Jim Eden on November 24, 1955 in Illinois and they have five children together.  The family of seven moved to Georgia in 1970 to be closer to her beloved uncle, Richard (Dick) Lewis.

Barbara loved spending time with her family, playing board games and weekends at the lake.  She was an amazing cook and enjoyed interior design.  She also had a huge passion for animals, especially her Dachshund, Chester.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Adeline Eden; brother-in-law, Don Eden.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Jim Eden; Son, Jim Eden of Nashville, TN; Daughter Debbie Bates and son-in-law Jeff Bates of Gainesville; Son, Jeff Eden and daughter-in-law Tami Eden of Duluth; Daughter, Darla Eden of Gainesville; Daughter, Deanna Eden Brown and son-in-law Clay Brown of Canton; Grandmother to Dafney Bates, Jason Bates, Tara Eden, Cory Eden, Justin Harrison, and Ali Eden; Great Grandmother to Priscilla Magnus and Claudia Jane Magnus; and nephew, Mark Eden.

Barbara will also be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, as well as special family friend, Kerry Preslar.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2018 in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home.  Rev. Lee Koontz and Rev. Shon Peppers will officiate.  The family will receive friends at Little & Davenport Funeral Home from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 20, 2018 and again on Saturday, July 21, 2018 from 10:00-11:00 a.m.
