On Tuesday, July 10, 2018, Thomas Colbert Skinner, widower, father and grandfather, passed away at age 81. Tom will join his late wife of 52 years, Paula Bunse Skinner, and will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Karen Perry and Colleen Ulrich, his son in law, John Perry and his grandchildren, Jacob and Alaina. Tom will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends.
Born in Gulfport, MS, Tom and his family moved to Atlanta, GA where he attended Marist Catholic School and Georgia State University. Serving his country, Tom was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force at Dobbins Air Force Base during the Vietnam War and the Cuban Missile Crisis. Additionally, Tom was the Vice President of Operations for Southeastern Bonded Warehouse Corporation. During his retirement, Tom enjoyed the peacefulness of driving the back roads of southern Georgia while delivering parts for Hayes, Chrysler, Jeep. Tom was a lifelong Georgia Bulldog and Atlanta Falcons fan, still waiting for his “We’ll get ‘em next year” prophecy to be met.
A funeral mass will be held on Monday, July 16, 2018 at 11am at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, located at 3740 Holtzclaw Rd, Cumming, GA 30041. Reception will be held afterward in reception hall.
