Mr. John Lausman, age 92, of Dahlonega passed away peacefully Friday, July 6, 2018. His wife and daughter were by his side along with the loving care of Gardens of Gainesville Assisted Living Facility.
Mr. Lausman was born in Stevensville, MI on November 26, 1925 to the late John Sr. and Erma Lean Lausman. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Robert Lausman; Harry Lausman; and Verne Lausman; and sister Audrey Eichler. Mr. Lausman was drafted as an 18 year old to the United States Navy during WWII. He served his country faithfully on the island of Okinawa. John and his wife made an adventurous move to Dahlonega, GA in 1987, where they felt at home immediately. He has been retired from Whirlpool Corporation for 31 years. John will always be remembered for his life’s view, “Life is how you make it!” He was a member of Dahlonega United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Helen Lausman, Dahlonega; daughter Marsha Lausman, Auburn, GA; sister Lucille McFarlane, Blairsville; sister and brother in law Linda and Donald Zacha, Illinois; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Monday, July 9, 2018 at Dahlonega United Methodist Church. The Reverend Robin Parr will officiate. Interment will follow in Dahlonega Memorial Park with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
