Dana Marie Remillard

Obituary Date: Thursday, July 5, 2018

Memorial Park announces the passing of Dana Marie Remillard, Monday, January 22, 2018, in Gainesville, Georgia.  Eulogy and inurnment services are going to be held privately with close family and friends.

Dana is survived by her daughter, Marin Louise Remillard, and her parents, Lia & Dan Christy.  Other surviving family who will miss Dana, include her grandmother, Dorothy Foglia Bago, and her uncle, Russell Waters  both of Cocoa Florida, and his sons John and Darryl; her aunt & uncle, Debbie & Steve Christy of Cashiers North Carolina and their son Michael and daughter, Sarah Christy Fales; her aunt & uncle Marilyn & Chris Christy of Duluth Georgia and their daughters Christine, Karen, and Caroline; her uncle Johnny Foglia of Dunnellon Florida, and a whole host of Italian family from Florida to Long Island New York.

Born Dana Marie Calvin in Gainesville Florida, June 13th 1979, Dana did most of her growing up in Sylva, North Carolina, as her mother had moved there to be close to her parents, John & Dorothy Foglia.  Dana was a happy, adorable child, who loved riding her bike, jumping on her trampoline, being outside playing with her Dalmatian, and taking advantage of any opportunity to go to a pool, because she could swim like a fish.

Dana and her family stayed in Sylva through her junior high years.  Then later, the family moved to Gainesville, Georgia, where Dana attended West Hall High School and lived with her family by Lake Lanier.

Living by the lake and already really fond of the water, Dana learned to love the lake – tubing, skiing, fishing, swimming, or just lying on the beach by it – whatever you were planning, as long as it had something to do with being in, on, or near the lake, Dana was ready.  Dana also loved the beach down by the gulf, vacationing with family dozens of times along Florida’s pan handle from Pensacola to Cape San Blas.  She loved grilling out by the beach, especially after scooping up some fresh scallops or crabs.

Dana was a natural-born sales person and could sell anything.  She had success selling rental properties, selling cars, and with commercial sales, as well.

Dana was great in the kitchen, too.  She was a self-taught, free style cook and was very comfortable in the kitchen.  She could always find a way to make something new and different from whatever she could find in the cupboard.

Dana was beautiful, intelligent, and articulate, and she had a great sense of humor.  She found many ways to make people laugh, but unfortunately, she left this world far too early.  Passing while only 38 years old, Dana had many years left to live, love, and be loved.

Dana loved her daughter immensely, and she had a very special bond with her mother.  Life without her is going to be a difficult journey for the family she’s left behind, as they all will think of her every day.  Dana will be truly missed.
