Dorothy Jean Bagwell, age 84 of Cumming, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2018. She was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. Dorothy Jean was the Goodwill Ambassador for the Forsyth County Senior Center and retired from the Forsyth County Board of Education after 30 years of teaching at Big Creek Elementary School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Bagwell; brother, Ralph “Cotton” Sexton; parents, Glen and Ether Sexton.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Gina and Mark Kanehl of Dahlonega; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Cindi Bagwell of Dahlonega; brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Charlotte Sexton of Buford; sister and brother-in-law, Janis and Bill Thomas of Cumming; grandchildren, Travis Kanehl and Christopher Bagwell; several loving nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 7th at 2:00 pm at Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ritchie Brown and Rev. Shad Faulkner officiating. Interment will follow in Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home on Friday, July 6th from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm and on Saturday, July 7th from 12:00 noon until hour of the service.
