David Forrest Nichols, 83, of Gainesville passed away Sunday July 1, 2018 at his residence.
A native of Towns County, Mr. Nichols had lived in Hall County for a number of years. He was the son of the late Presley and Cora Bowen Nichols. Mr. Nichols had served in the United States Air Force and was self-employed as a contractor.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law; Dale and Fran Nichols, Blairsville; son, Craig Nichols, Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Donald Davenport, Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Loretta Nichols, Gainesville; grandchildren, William and John Nichols; Grant Nichols; Amber Merritt; great grandchild, Owen Merritt.
Mr. Nichols is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Sellars Nichols.
Memorial services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday July 6, 2018 at the Valley Community Church in Towns County. Rev. Jonathan Penland will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour on Friday.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions please be made to the Towns County Sheriff's Office Children's Empty Stocking Fund, c/o Towns County Sheriffs Office, 4070 State Highway 339, Young Harris, Ga. 30582 in memory of Mr. Nichols.
