Leland and Margaret Josephine “Jo” Whelchel Buice

Leland Buice, 87, and Margaret Josephine “Jo” Whelchel Buice, 85, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away in succession on June 25 and June 26, 2018, respectively. Born July 31, 1930 in Forsyth County, GA to parents Colbert and Ruth McGinnis Buice – Leland “Juicy Jaws” worked at and retired from the General Motors plant in Doraville, GA after 36 years of employment. Jo was born on May 25, 1933 in Manchester, GA to parents Joe and Maggie Sosebee Whelchel – growing up in Chicopee Village in Gainesville, GA. Jo was a floral designer at various florists, majority of her career spent at Siam Imports in Buford, GA.

Leland is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Elwan Buice and Ella Roper Buice (Duluth, GA). Jo is survived by her brother, Albert Whelchel (Wilmore, KY).

They are both survived by their daughter, Renae Buice Puckett (Buford, GA); granddaughter and grandson-in-law Megan Buice Puckett Bolian and Ed Bolian (Duluth, GA); grandson and granddaughter-in-law Zach Puckett and Angela Grace Puckett (Buford, GA); great grandson Graham Edward Bolian; by several nieces and nephews; and by a host of other loving relatives and life-long friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Association, (www.jdrf.org), American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org/involved/donate.html), or American Heart Society (donatenow.heart.org).

Viewing services will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5:00pm – 8:00pm. The funeral service will be held in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 11:00am.
