J. W. Griffin

Mr. J. W. Griffin, age 91, of Buford, GA passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2018.

He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-nine years, Sue Peevy Griffin. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Brenda Griffin, Buford, GA, Ted and Elaine Griffin, Marietta, GA and Scott Griffin, Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren, Gary Griffin, Buford, GA, Ginger Vanderford, Bogart, GA and Wesley Griffin, Monroe, NC; great grandchildren, Shelby and Savanna Griffin, Carly and Mason Vanderford, Wesley Burton, Jr. and Braxton James Griffin; sister, Naomi Griffin Maddox, Decatur, GA; sister-in-law, Ruth Chatham Peevy, Hoschton, GA; brother-in-law, Jack Leach, Commerce, GA; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Griffin was born May 16, 1927 in Eatonton, GA. He was a graduate of the Old Buford High School in Buford, GA. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army Air Force. He was a retired driver from Yellow Freight Lines after eight years of service and also retired from Sears, Roebuck & Company, Mail Order Department, after twenty-four years of service. He was a member of Ivy Creek Baptist Church in Buford, GA. The family would like to express a special thank you to Al Bradberry and Shirley Petty and all the other neighbors in the neighborhood for their loving care for J. W. Griffin. 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Dr. Craig Dale and Rev. Ted Williams officiating.  Graveside service and interment will follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford, GA with Dr. Jim Ferguson officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, June 25, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ivy Creek Baptist Church, 2500 Ivy Creek Road, Buford, GA 30519 in memory of J. W. Griffin.
