Eunice “Ann” H. Mercer, age 80 left her earthly home in the community of Batesville, Habersham County, Georgia and went to her Heavenly Home on Wednesday, May 30, 2018.
She was born the second of two children and the only daughter of the late John A. “Grandsir” Hutton, Sr. and Eunice Elizabeth “Amah” Hutton on March 31, 1938 in Panama City, Bay County, Florida. Ann spent the majority of her life in Panama City until 1992 when she and her husband retired and relocated to the magnificent mountains of Northeast Georgia. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Panama City and graduated Bay High School. After moving to Georgia, she joined Providence Baptist Church in Batesville and developed many new friendships there and abroad.
She is survived by her brother and sister in law, John Arthur & Sarah Hutton of Lynn Haven, Florida, her husband of 60 years, Elmer L. Mercer, her two children Marc Mercer and LeAnn Rudeseal, daughter in law Andrea Laferriere Mercer, son in law Anthony Hoyt “Tony” Rudeseal, three grandchildren, Mallory Ann Mercer, John Marc Mercer and Emily McLeod Kirby and four great grandchildren Jase Alan Mercer, Adelynn McKenna Kirby, Blake Avery Mercer and Beaux Alexander Mercer.
Known as “Mema” by her family, Ann was a follower of Jesus Christ, faithful wife, loving matriarch, loyal friend and will be missed by all those that knew her.
On Saturday, June 23, 2018 beginning at 11:00 AM, a celebration will be held at Providence Baptist Church, 12030 Ga-Hwy 197, Clarkesville, GA 30523 in the unincorporated community of Batesville, to commemorate Mema’s life and the innumerable positive impacts that she had on so many individuals. A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.
