Paul “Ted” Terry Kennedy

Mr. Paul “Ted” Terry Kennedy, age 86, of Flowery Branch, formerly of Austell, Georgia passed away Monday, June 11, 2018.

Services will be held at a later date.

Mr. Kennedy was born May 25, 1932 to John Bascomb Kennedy and Jessie Crowe Kennedy in Atlanta.  Ted was the ninth of thirteen children.  After losing his father at age nine, his older siblings helped his mother raise the younger children.  He spoke of his family with fond memories.  They grew up next to Bobby Jones gold course, where he caddied as a teen.

Ted joined the army as a teen, where he learned to box.  He served in Japan until being called to fight in Korea.  He fought with the Wolfhounds 27^th Infantry Regiment.  Ted earned a Bronze Star after being wounded in combat.

Later Ted became a welder and helped build many buildings in Atlanta.  He suffered a debilitating injury after falling from one of these buildings.  Ted was a lifetime member of Local 387 Iron Workers Union, as well as a member of the Masons.  In retirement, he enjoyed fishing, playing cards, woodworking, and his dogs.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Barbara Kennedy and Mary Ivie Kennedy; son, Jack Kennedy; and siblings, John, Mildred, Mack, JB, Annie Laura, Jim, Charles, Nell, Jack, Larry, Gloria and Janice.  He is survived by grandchildren, Paige Patterson, Justin Kennedy, Tom Ivie, Steven Ivie and Jason Ivie; step-children, Doug (Kathy) Ivie, Steve (LeeAnn) Ivie, and Janis Ivie; 3 great-granddaughters; and 2 great great-grandsons.

Ted and Mary were long time members of Calvary Baptist Church in Austell, Georgia.  He will be buried in Dawn Memorial Cemetery in Decatur.
