Janelle Jones Murphy

Janelle Jones Murphy, age 70 of Cornelia, Georgia passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at her residence after a long battle with cancer.

Born in Hall County, Georgia on May 23, 1948, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Paul Jones, Sr. & Mary Esther Jones. Mrs. Murphy was a retired clerk with the Habersham County Tax Commissioner’s Office. She was a faithful member of Crossroads Baptist Church who enjoyed time with her family and serving others. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, sewing, and cooking.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Roy “Buddy” Jones & Troy Jones; sisters, Jeanette Eller & Linda Weathers.

Survivors include her loving husband of 54 years, Vernon Murphy of Cornelia; children & spouses, Judy & Andy Tench of Alto, June & Kurt Warren of Demorest, Joey & Monica Murphy of Mt. Airy and Mark & Amanda Murphy of Louisville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Tiffany & Kris Griffin, Cody & Megan Daniel, Blake & Morgan Daniel, Kinley Shook, Madison Black, Chelsey Murphy, Andrew Murphy, Isaac Murphy & Ian Murphy; great grandchildren, Heidi, Chloe, Shelby & Hank Griffin;  siblings and spouses, Rev. Paul, Jr. & Edna Jones & Joseph H. “Jay” & Mildred Jones; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, & a host of friends.

Special thanks to her sister-in-law, Mildred Jones, for her devoted care during the last weeks here on earth.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Crossroads Baptist Church with Rev. Lamar Kastner and Rev. Michael Parker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday.
