Vernon Burnette

Vernon Burnette, age 81, of Rabun Gap, Georgia, passed away on May 30, 2018.

Vernon was born on April 3, 1937 in Scaly, North Carolina to the late Otis and Hattie Burnette. Throughout his life Vernon worked at several local businesses. He worked at Rabun Mills plant, 441 Self Service Gas in Mountain City, Sangamo and Wal-Mart. He loved antique cars, all typed of sports and gospel music. He was one of the friendliest people ever, and had never met a stranger. Vernon was well known for his love of people.

In addition to his parents, one brother, Lamar Burnette, preceded him in death.

His survivors include his loving wife, Verena Galloway Burnette, of Rabun Gap; four sisters, Donna Best, of Rabun Gap, Diane Blalock Campbell (Duane), of Rabun Gap, Sandra Hopton, of Mountain City, Brenda Rogers (E.J.), of Toccoa, a number of nieces and nephews also survive him.

The family will receive friends on Saturday June 2, 2018 at the Beck Funeral Home from 6 – 8 pm.

A funeral service will be held at the Beck Funeral Home on Sunday June 3, 2018 at 1:00pm with Rev. Len Pirkle officiating.

A graveside interment will follow the service at the Wesley Memorial Cemetery in Rabun Gap, Georgia with Rev. Norman Drymond officiating.
