Mrs. Modean Hester, 81, of Dawsonville (Lumpkin County) passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Northside Forsyth Hospital.
Modean was born May 16, 1937 in Gilmer County to parents Jack and Flora Cantrell Edge. She had lived in Lumpkin County the past 20 years having moved here from Alpharetta. She was a homemaker, a member of Philippi Baptist Church and loved to sing gospel music. She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years (June 2nd), Rossell Anderson “Jack” Hester of the home, children; Ava Turner (Dennis), Cumming, Teresa Hewatt, Dawsonville, Evondia Woessner (Richard), Blountsville, AL, sisters; Diana Edge, Waleska, GA, Kathleen Wehunt, Canton, GA, brother; John Edge, Gig Harbor, WA, grandchildren; Stephen Turner (Jessica), Chris Turner (Amy), Courtney Vaughan (Allen), four great-grandchildren also survive. Modean is also survived by family by the grace of God, Tina and Rocky Burdett and Lois Thomas.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 27, 2018 in the chapel of Dahlonega Funeral Home . Interment will follow at Philippi Baptist Church Cemetery where Rev. Jason Fuller will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 26th from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Dahlonega Funeral Home and also on Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until the service hour.
