Gerald Wayne Tanner, age 77, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2018, at Vista Park following an extended illness.
Mr. Tanner was born on December 14, 1941, in Coffee County, GA; son of the late Benjamin E. Tanner and Lillian Barker Tanner. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Frances Moore Tanner. Mr. Tanner worked as a truck driver for Wal-Mart, was a member of Glade Creek Baptist Church in Mt. Airy, Georgia, and attended Sand Hill Baptist Church since moving to Douglas, Georgia.
Survivors include two daughters, Carrie A. Tanner and boyfriend, Richard of Douglas, GA and Sarah Tanner of Brunswick, GA; son, Avery Tanner and wife, Jerrie of Fitzgerald, GA; four grandchildren: Joshua Brian Tanner of Douglas, GA, Austin Moran, Aaron Moran, and Lauren Moran all of Brunswick, GA; sister, Barbara Crews and husband, Jimmy of Douglas, GA; and several nieces and nephews.\
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, May 25, 2018, at Glade Creek Baptist Church in Mt. Airy, Georgia, with Rev. Michael Justus and Rev. Ed Lycett officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
