Lt. Col. Robert H. LaCoy

Retired Lt. Col. Robert H. LaCoy, age 100, of Hoschton, GA passed away, Monday, May 21, 2018. He was preceded in death by parents, James H. LaCoy and Jenny LaCoy; brother, James LaCoy; and sisters, Jane Poupore and Mary Paulich.  Lt. Col. LaCoy is survived by his wife of seventy-five years, Marie Louise Murphy LaCoy, Hoschton; children, Louise M. Gaines, Braselton, GA, Lorraine L. Horner, Hoschton, Ga; Robert H. LaCoy and wife, Kathryn Lynn LaCoy, Buford, GA, and Loretta M. LaCoy and husband, Jimmy Bobo, Woodstock, GA; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sister, Lorraine Agnes LaCoy, Iron Mountain, MI; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. LaCoy was born on August 13, 1917 in Wausauke, WI. He was a Retired Lt. Col. from the U. S. Army, having served in Korea. He received the first Oak Leaf Cluster to the Bronze Star medal. He was also the recipient of United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, National Defense Medal, and Army Commendation Medal. Mr. LaCoy was a retired supervisor from the Civil Service after thirty-two years of service. He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home. Intement will be on Monday, May 28, 2018 at the GA National Cemetery in Canton, GA. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
