Algene Meaders Pardue, age 83 of Cleveland, passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2018.
Mrs. Pardue was born on October 18, 1934, in White County, to the late L.Q. and Hattie Mae Welchel Meaders. She was retired from the White County School System, where she worked as a librarian. She also served as the librarian at Truett McConnell College for several years. Algene was a member of Mossy Creek United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Vinson Pardue, Jr.; sisters, Ina Pardue and Reba Palmer.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Kaye and Terry Whitworth, Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, Kent and Mary Pardue, Cleveland; brother and sister-in-law, Welchel and Eunice Meaders, Cleveland; sister, Mary Long, Cleveland; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Bobby Ferguson, Cornelia; grandchildren, Candace and Joel Brown and Brooke and Corey Snyder; great grandchildren, Olivia, Riley, Tanner, Eli and Scarlett; special friend, Inez Parks; a number of nieces and nephew and additional relatives also survive.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. Dr. Tony Smith will officiate. Interment will follow at Mossy Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
