William Bruce Cain, age 91, of Chestnut Mountain passed away on Friday, May 18, 2018 at New Horizons Limestone following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, 2018 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with Rev .Joel Trigg, Joel Turner and Steve Cronic officiating. Interment will be in Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, May 20th from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Mr. Cain was born on July 28, 1926 in Lumpkin County to the late Alonzo and Arroma Cain. He was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church where he served as the Music Director for many years, directing the adult choir, working with the Junior Choir and starting and leading a Young Married Choir.
Mr. Cain served our Country in World War II in the Asiatic Pacific. He spent most of his life and career working in the grocery business, managing the produce department at Big Star Foods. Prior to retirement Mr. Cain took a small engine course to learn repair lawnmowers which developed into a flourishing business after retirement, allowing him to help family and friends. Mr. Cain loved his God, family, helping others and his tractor.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Cain is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Martha Lou Cain, brothers, Brent and JR Cain, and sisters, Bertha Garrett, Fairy Turner and Alice Turner.
Mr. Cain is survived by his daughter and son in law, Joan and Ronny Martin of Flowery Branch; son and daughter in law, Jimmy and Nancy Cain of Griffin; granddaughters, Julie Long and fiancé, Ryan Sims of Kathleen, Beth Cain of Griffin, Kristy and Cameron Vigil of Broomfield, Co, Jenny and Bill Glass of Griffin, Brandi and Gary Moye of Byron; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Gooch, Logan and Brayden Long, Ben and Emily Vigil, Natalie and Nicole Ellis, Abby and Gavin Glass, Hunter Moye; great-great granddaughter, Jaycie DeSena; brothers, Frank (Mae) Cain, Pat (Mary Ann) Cain; sisters, Ether (Stanley) Murphy, Joyce Bragg as well as many nieces and nephews.
