Lucie Pauline “Polly” Reins, age 79 of Gainesville, passed away on May 14, 2018 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Gainesville First United Methodist Church. Rev. Scott Hearn will be officiating. The family will receive friends after the service in the reception hall.
Polly was born on January 17, 1938 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Jack and Lucie (Bailey) Pickren. Polly was a teacher for 28 years and taught the gifted program. She retired from the Hall County School system. She had 3 Master’s Degrees in Elementary Education. Polly loved everything outside, especially gardening. She was a charter member of Fleur-de-lis Garden Club, Camp Fire Girl leader, an Alumni from Phi Mu, and a Master Gardener. Polly volunteered with the Gainesville and Hall County History Center extension office and the Atlanta Botanical Gardens.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her special nephew James T. Pickren. Polly is survived by her husband Thomas Reins, Sr.; daughter Jeannie Reins; son Thomas Reins, Jr.; loving daughter-in-law Doris S. Reins; brothers James H. Pickren and Charles H. and Julie Pickren; grandsons Bailey S. Reins and Turner C. Reins; and a number of nieces and nephews.
