Imogene Gerrin Black, age 85 of Demorest, passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2018.
Born in Habersham County, Georgia on September 2, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Robert (Bob) & Ruby Elrod Gerrin. Mrs. Black retired from the Habersham Training Center as a secretary and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading and traveling.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, T. Lowell Black; infant son, Barry Black; daughter, Judith Black Dituro; brothers, R.B. Gerrin and Ted Garrin.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Gale & James Chambers of Demorest; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis & Teresa Black of Martin; grandsons and spouses, Anthony & Courtney Dituro of Barboursville, West Virginia, Kelvin & Erin Mullins of Cumming, Nathan & Mandie Mullins of Duluth, Christopher & Rachel Black of Athens, Clay Black & Annalise Connan of Martin; granddaughters and spouse, Christina Dituro of Charlotte, North Carolina, Ellen Black & Zo Stanley of Athens; 16 great grandchildren; brother, Harold Gerrin of Baldwin; many well-loved nieces & nephews; special family, Michael & Judy Dituro of Huntington, West Virginia.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3 pm, Friday, May 11, 2018 in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Duane Black officiating. Interment will follow in Fairfield Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 pm until the funeral hour on Friday at the funeral home.
