Mary Jane (Dwiggins) Fuller was born on May 14th, 1946 at St. Joseph's hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. She lived in the Atlanta area for most of her life, and grew up with three sisters (Margaret Ann, Debbie, and Sue Ellen Jett) and one brother (Steve Dwiggins). She loved horses and fast cars (a love she carried into her later years, when she bought a sleek Corvette for her 70th birthday). She raised three sons, Lance, Danny, and Jeff Mercer and took tremendous pride in their accomplishments, most especially her nine grandchildren.
Mary Jane had an adventurous spirit, and enjoyed traveling with her friends and family. Her world travels included the U.K., France, Switzerland, Italy, Mexico, Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand, the Kingdom of Tonga, Puerto Rico, St. Croix, and Panama.
In addition to travel, Mary Jane loved to dance. It was through dance that she both met and reconnected with her great love, her husband Brian Fuller. They married in 2010 and together they danced their way through the state of Georgia and around the world. Who would have guessed there was such a thing as a line-dance cruise? Mary Jane and Brian knew.
She was unfailingly generous with everyone in her life, including her human children and grandchildren, as well as those of the animal variety -- no cat, dog, or even possum went unloved on Mary Jane's watch. She formed unique and extraordinary relationships with the people in her life, and had a way of making everyone who was close to her feel special and loved. She was a woman of many titles: wife, mom, daughter, sister, aunt, grandma, step-mom, and best friend and she valued every one of them fiercely. Woe be it to the person who spoke badly of anyone in her family!
Mary Jane passed away on April 26, 2018 after a period of illness. We remember her as warm, loving, funny, and giving. She loved to laugh, was always supportive, and was always ready to celebrate even the most minor of victories with those she loved. Her family and friends look forward to seeing her again in whatever adventure lies next, both because they miss her beyond measure, and because they might finally get to know the true color of her hair.
Mary Jane was preceded in death by her father, Daniel Ford Dwiggins, and her sister, Margaret Ann Jett.
She is survived by her husband, Brian Fuller, sons Lance (Melinda) Mercer, Danny (Marne) Mercer, and Jeff (Christine) Mercer, mother Betty Holbrook, sisters Debbie Tanksley and Sue Ellen Carpenter, brother Steve Dwiggins, nine grandchildren (Justis, Ariana, Ryder, Alex, James, Sophie, Ronin, Marcus, and Elizabeth Mercer), step-mother Evelyn Dwiggins, niece Jennifer Carpenter, nephews Charlie and Ben Tanksley and Drew Carpenter, and good friends Debbie Chambers and Katrena Jackson.
