Phillip M. Gaines, age 72 of Cornelia, passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018.
Born in Dothan, Alabama on July 31, 1945 he was a son of the late Charles Andrew, Sr. and Louise Brannon Gaines. Mr. Gaines retired from Piedmont Automotive with 42 years of service. He loved all Habersham Central Raider sports as well as University of Georgia sports. Mr. Gaines attended Level Grove Baptist Church and was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Surviving are his loving wife of 48 years, Betty Maness Gaines of Cornelia; son and daughter-in-law, Phillip Mark & Crystal Gaines of Cornelia; daughter, Andrea Michele Gaines of Clarkesville; grandchildren, Caleb Gaines, Brannon Gaines, Bethany Gaines, Christian Shubert; brother, Charles A. “Bear” Gaines, Jr. of Mt. Airy; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 pm, Sunday, May 6, 2018 in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Pastor Stan Crump and Dr. Brian James officiating. Interment will follow in Baldwin City Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Maness officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm on Saturday at the funeral home.
