Linda Leyda

Mrs. Linda Leyda, age 80, of Flowery Branch passed away Saturday, April 28, 2018 at her residence, surrounded by her family.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 4, 2018 in the Chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home with interment following at Chestnut Mountain Presbyterian Church Cemetery.  Rev. Kennedy Smart will officiate.  The family will receive friends 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 4, 2018 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.

Mrs. Leyda was born March 3, 1938 to the late Chris and Fences Wagler in Ottumwa, Iowa.  She was a member of Chestnut Mountain Presbyterian Church, T.T.T. Society, Kappa Kappa Gama Sorority and various organizations and clubs for military wives.  Mrs. Leyda graduated from Drake University with a Bachelor’s degree in Education and George Mason University with a Master’s degree in Education.  She enjoyed needlework, knitting and most of all spending time with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Leyda is survived by her husband of 58 years, Craig H. Leyda of Flowery Branch; daughter & son-in-law, Debbie & Graham McCarty of Duluth, Georgia; granddaughter, Jennie McCarty; grandson, Ben McCarty; niece, Lynn Lamb; and nephews, Mike Johnston and Doug Johnston.
