Harvey Smith

Mr. Harvey Smith, age 73, of Gainesville, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Landmark Hospital in Athens, following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, April 30, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Pastor Rod Bell, Jr. and Reverend Delma Simmons will officiate.  The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 29, 2018 from 2 – 6 pm at the funeral home. 

Mr. Smith was born May 11, 1944 in Chicopee, Georgia to the late Carl W. Smith and Jewell Brownlow Smith.  He was retired from the City of Gainesville as Manager of the Water Department.  He served in the U S Navy and was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Horace Smith and sister, Marie Sloan.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Joyce Smith of Gainesville, his daughter & son-in-law, Holly & Jeff Sherrill of Gainesville, his son, Darren Smith of Gainesville, his granddaughter, Olivia Sherrill of Gainesville, his nephews, Frank Smith and Terry Sloan, both of Gainesville and a number of other family and friends.
