Clifford Daniel Aaron, 94, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2018
“Tip” Aaron was born in 1924 in Athens, Georgia to the late Ernest E. and Jerusha W. Aaron. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings and his wife Ruth D. Aaron, also of Athens, Georgia.
He graduated from Athens High School in 1941 and then began his service in the Civil Air Patrol, a division of the US Air Force, then served with the Merchant Marines, a division of the US Coast Guard, during WWII. He served as a radio operator on freighter ships in the Atlantic Ocean as well as on St. Simons Island. He married Ruth Daniel in October of 1942 in Glenn County where they lived while he was stationed on St. Simon’s Island. They moved back to Athens, transferred to Decatur, GA then Tucker, GA, and finally back home to Athens. “Tip” worked for several companies before retiring from American Greetings Corporation. He was named Salesperson of the Year on two different occasions. He enjoyed being a Master Mason and Shriner as well as a member of the Optimist Club when he lived in Tucker. In Athens, he loved volunteering for Our Daily Bread and singing in the choir in his home church Oconee Street Methodist Church. Fishing with his friends at the lake at Thompson Farm was one of his delights and cherished memories!
Mr. Aaron is survived by his children, Larry D Aaron (Gail) of Gainesville GA and Amanda Aaron Dysart (Scott) of Flowery Branch GA; grandchildren, Larry D “Chip” Aaron, Jr (Christi) of Austin TX, Matthew W Aaron (Kathy) of Baltimore MD, Jeffrey S Dysart of Chicago IL, Douglas D Dysart of Flowery Branch GA; great-grandchildren, Ben Aaron of NY, Emily Aaron of TX and Andrew Aaron of MD. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and many cousins.
Visitation with family and friends will be on Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 5:00PM to 7:30PM at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2030 Memorial Park Drive, Gainesville GA.
