Robert “Bob” Wellman Cornell

Robert “Bob” Wellman Cornell, age 81 of Cumming, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2018. He was a former member of the First Christian Church in Cumming, GA. Bob was an avid football fan who loved history, the University of Georgia Bulldogs, writing books and inventing.

Bob was an honest man who believed in a strong work ethic. He enjoyed decorating for all occasions. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert M. and Marye Cornell, and brother Michael D. Cornell.

He attended Shawnee Mission High School in Kansas City, Kansas before moving to Decatur, Georgia in 1954 and graduating from Decatur High School in 1955. He attended West Georgia College and the University of Georgia, graduating in 1961.

He is survived by his loving wife, Swan H. Cornell; daughters, Connie Waters and Mary (Sam) Heard; grandchildren, Morgan Waters, Chandler Barnett and Mason Waters; and his four legged best friend, Sammy.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming, GA, with the Rev. Gary Armes officiating. Interment will be held on Wednesday, at 2:30 at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs. Visitation will be at Ingram Funeral Home on Tuesday, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
