Cathy Marie Erica Simmons Hancock

Cathy “Big Mama” Marie Erica Simmons Hancock, 46, of Gainesville passed away April 18, 2018 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 23, 2018 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with the Reverend Dwayne Ryals and Reverend Lamar Kastner officiating. Interment will follow in Whitehall Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friend at the funeral home on Monday, April 23rd from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Born on September 8, 1971, she was the daughter of the late Melvin Leon Simmons and of Shelby Jean Chambers Simmons. She was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her father, Ms. Hancock is preceded in death by her brother Vern Simmons.

Ms. Hancock is survived by her mother, Shelby Jean Simmons; son, James “Bubba” Hancock (Courtney); daughter, Amber Sue Hancock; sister, Sheryl Bruce (Glen) all of Gainesville; niece and nephew, Allen Head (Shannon) of Lula, Amanda Head of Gainesville; 9 grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
