Walter Eugene Smith

Walter Eugene Smith, age 82, of Cumming, GA, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018. Walter was a member of Beaver Ruin Baptist Church. He retired from General Motors in Doraville in 1984 with 30 years of service. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Eli and Stella Smith; brothers, James and Jerrell Smith; sister in law, Bert Smith.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Betty Ruth Hood Smith; children, Derle (Deborah)

Smith, Tracy (Barry) Manders, Curtis ( Susan) Smith; grandchildren, Shaun and Beth Smith, Kristie ( Alex) Woods, Holly Manders, Jesse and Malloree Smith; brother, Arvil Smith; and many other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Ingram Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Henderson and Rev. Roger Shadburn officiating. Interment to follow in Sawnee View Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service.
