Robert Woodrow “Bob” Stephenson, age 101, of Clarkesville, Georgia, went to his Heavenly Home on Sunday, April 15, 2018.
Mr. Stephenson was born on March 5, 1917, in Covington, Kentucky, to the late E.G. and Rozella Stephenson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Stephenson; son, Gary L. Stephenson; and brothers, Paul Stephenson and Pete Stephenson. Mr. Stephenson was a veteran of the United States Navy having proudly served his country during World War II. He was the Valedictorian of the 1935 Class of Walton High School. Mr. Stephenson served as Vice Mayor of Walton, Kentucky and was a mason of the Lodge in Walton, Kentucky. Mr. Stephenson also served as a Deacon and Sunday School Director at Walton Baptist Church. He retired from Cincinnati Milling Machine Company with 35 years of loyal and dedicated service. Mr. Stephenson was a member of Amy’s Creek Baptist Church, Clarkesville, Georgia. Mr. Stephenson, a resident of Magnolia Hills for the past nine years, was an inspiration to staff and other residents. They all lovingly referred to him as “The Legend”. His hobbies included making baskets and picture frames.
Survivors include son, Frankie Stephenson of Naples, FL; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Gary “Connie” Stephenson of Clarkesville; sister, Mary Mae Latimer of New Albany, IN; sister-in-law, Marie Vest of Crittenden, KY; grandchildren: Casey Mathis, Karen Griffin, Kelley Disrud, Nelson Stephenson, and Natalie Fernandez; great-grandchildren: Megan Morris, Melissa Benjamin, Erica Patton, Logan Disrud, Nicholas Stephenson, Sophia Stephenson, Austin Fernandez, and Michael Fernandez; and great-great-grandchildren: Leyland Benjamin, Nyla Benjamin, Kraigen Benjamin, James Patton, and Andrew Patton.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, April 20, 2018, at Magnolia Hills.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on June 16, 2018, at New Bethel Cemetery in Verona, Kentucky.
