Mrs. Emma Ruth Weaver, age 73, of Gainesville, GA passed away Monday, April 16, 2016.
She was born in Dahlonega, GA and lived the past 49 years in Gainesville, GA. She graduated from Lumpkin County High School and received her Associate Degree from Lanier Tech. Ruth worked as a Teacher’s Assistant at Tadmore Elementary School and with the housekeeping staff at Lanier Park Hospital. Her volunteer work included bake sales, visiting shut-ins, and the Girls Club in Hall County. She had many hobbies including crocheting, writing poetry, and reading. She was a member of Tickenetly Church in Gilmer County.
Ruth was the daughter of the late Marion and Ruby Grizzle Anderson, and was also preceded in death by her daughters, Teresa Marie and Patricia Gail Weaver; brothers, Carl Anderson, Donald Anderson, and Jesse Anderson; sisters, Iola Gooch and Mildred Jarrard; and brother-in-law, Jack Weaver.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Fred Weaver, Gainesville, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Irene and Frank Mitchell, Salvisa. KY; favorite granddaughter, Holly Mitchell, Brooklyn, NY; favorite grandson, Joseph Mitchell, Winchester, KY; sister and brother-in-law, Blanche and Errol Barton, Gainesville, GA; brother-in-law, Jim Weaver, Dahlonega, GA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law. Hoyt and Peggy Ann Weaver, Bennett, NC; sister-in-law, Doris Weaver, Dahlonega, GA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mark and Barbara Weaver; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Polly and J.B. Bearden and Peggy and Charles Hood, all of Dahlonega, GA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, and Perry and Glenda Sue Weaver, Dahlonega, GA. Honorary children and grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Ruth are scheduled for 11:00 AM Thursday, April 19. 2018 at the Little Davenport Funeral Home Chapel.
Pastor Doug Merck will officiate.
Interment will follow at 2:00 PM in the Tickenetly Church Cemetery in Gilmer County.
The family will receive friends at Little Davenport Funeral Home in Gainesville from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Wednesday, April 18.
Flowers are accepted, but in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Northeast GA in Ruth’s memory.
