Richard Lee Koller

Obituary Date: Monday, April 9, 2018

Richard L. Koller of Dawsonville, GA passed away peacefully on April 9th, 2018 in his home surrounded by his family.  He was the loving husband of his wife of 57 years, Bernice (Fritzinger) Koller.

He was born on June 7, 1941 in Reading, PA.  He was the youngest son of the late Elda (Manwiller) and Warren R. Koller.

He resided in Fleetwood, PA for 41 years.  He graduated from Fleetwood High School. He was a police officer on the Fleetwood Police Department for 9 years, 8 years as Sargeant.  He also worked for Culp and Hagen, Excelsior Brass, and Glidden Paint.  During his years in Fleetwood he was a member of the Blandon Lions Club, Blandon Fire Company, Kutztown Fire Company, Fleetwood Fire Company and Goodwill Fire Company. During this time he was a member of Maidencreek Church. 

In 1982 he and his wife moved to Houston, Texas where he worked for Coca Cola and where he was a member of St. Peter's UCC He then transferred to the Lawrenceville, Georgia Coca Cola plant in 1998 when they moved to Dawsonville, Georgia.  He retired in 2005 with 25 years at Coca Cola. He was a current member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Dawsonville, GA.

In addition to his wife Bernice, he is survived by his daughter, Vicki Hartman, wife of Ted Hartman, Cumming GA; a son, Eric Koller of Dawsonville, GA; two grandchildren, Pamela Hartigan, wife of Brian Hartigan of Cumming, GA and Dustin Koller of Dawsonville, GA; and three great granddaughters, Trinity Koller, Ashby Hartigan and Collins Hartigan.

Richard Koller, known to some of us as Sarg, always had a smile, kind word and even a BIGGER STORY to share with everyone!  He and his wife Bernice take care of their son, Eric, who is fighting cancer. They are also raising their Great-Granddaughter, Trinity.  During all this, Richard was a devoted Tax Professional with H&R Block for 13 years.  Richard was the light and life of his office.

He was predeceased by his parents and by his brother W. Kenneth Koller of Fleetwood, PA.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in both Dawsonville, GA and Fleetwood, PA.
