Mervyn Joseph Burns, age 83, of Cumming, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2018. He was a member of First Redeemer Church and was very active in church activities. Mervyn retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Marine Corps. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil E. and Mildred Ray Burns and his sister, Jeanne Brady.
Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Burns of Cumming; children, Mark Burns of Locust Grove, GA, Michael Burns of Afghanistan, Matthew Burns of Palm Bay, FL; sister, Janet Eisele of Elida, OH; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at noon in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home with Rev. Wendell Jackson officiating. Inurnment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA with full Military Honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 am until the hour of service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VA or The American Cancer Society.
