John Neil McCracken

Mr. John Neil McCracken, age 87, of Gainesville, Georgia passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2018 at Ashton Senior Living.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Born on August 15, 1930 in Walnut Township, Casey, Iowa, he was the son of the late John Edmond McCracken and Mabel Lenore Kinney McCracken. Mr. McCracken served in the Navy during the Korean War.  Mr. McCracken was a retired pilot for Eastern Airlines. While an active pilot, he flew troops to and from Vietnam. He loved to fly planes and build Model A cars.

In addition to his parents, Mr. McCracken is preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Jo McCracken; brothers, Paul McCracken, Dale McCracken and sister, Virginia Crill.

Mr. McCracken is survived by his daughter, Peggy Lanich; granddaughter and husband, Jessica and Sergio Rosas; great granddaughter, Lilly Rosas, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews; and Gerald Lanich.
