Samuel Herbert Self, age 83 of Arnoldsville, GA passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018.
Born on October 17, 1934 in Madison, GA, he was the son of the late Homer and Ruth Canup Self. He was a US Army veteran, of the Pentecostal faith and is preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Shackleford Self; brothers, Hillman Self, Wiley Self, Robert Self, Junior Self, Tommy Self, Bill Self, Coyt Self, J.C. Self; sisters, Martha Lee Daniel and Willie Hammond.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, David and Cheryl Self, Grayson; daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Steve Rogers, Arnoldsville, Phyllis and Reggie Oakes, Newland, NC; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 3 pm on Friday, March 30, 2018 at Ivie Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Ross Chapel Cemetery, Bogart, GA. The family will receive friends 2 pm until time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
