Fred Jackson Murray

Mr. Fred Jackson Murray age 99 of Persimmon Street, Toccoa passed away Saturday March 24, 2018 at his residence.

A son of the late Luther Jackson Murray and Lela Whitfield Murray, he was born August 18, 1918 in Banks County, Georgia having lived most of his life in Stephens County. He was employed with Acree-Mitchell Grocery Story in Toccoa for a number of years. He was a member and Deacon of Zebulon Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Collins Sheriff Murray in 2015, by three brothers, Hollis, Horace and Arlowe and by a sister, Pearline.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Linda Sheriff of Toccoa; granddaughter, Holly Black and husband Perry; grandsons, Brantley Sheriff, Andy Langston and Pete Langston; a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Smith of Martin.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday March 27, 2018 at 4 p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of Acree-Davis Funeral Home with the Reverend R.B Marcengill officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Kenneth Murray, Brantley Sheriff, Kevin Holden, Hayden Black, Tex Murray, Rex Anderson and Jerry Thurmond.

Interment will follow in the Zebulon Baptist Church Cemetery with The Reverend John Thomas officiating. Acree-Davis Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Fred Jackson Murray.
