Mr. Roy Lee Simpson, Sr., age 87 of Nub Garland Road, Toccoa, Georgia passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Pruitt Health Toccoa.
A son of the late John and Ola Mae Brown Simpson, he was born January 1, 1931 in Stephens County, Georgia where he lived all his life. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, Korean War and recipient of the Purple Heart. He was employed with Singer Manufacturing for a number of years, a member of the VFW Post 4346, the American Legion and Currahee Baptist Church where he served as treasurer for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Edmonds Simpson.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Roy Lee Simpson, Jr. and Melisa of Toccoa; granddaughters, Amber Simpson, Ashton Simpson and Shonda Farr; number of great-grandchildren; two sisters, Eula Mae Adams and Ollie Holcomb both of Toccoa.
Funeral services will be Thursday, March 22, 2018, 2 O’clock p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Anthony Pless officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Walter Fricks, Derrick Simpson, Lee Fricks, Jerry Segars, Eddie Segars and Will Segars.
The family will be at the home of the son, 65 Andrews Road, Toccoa and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Online condolences can be made by visiting the website at www.acree-davisfh.com.
Interment will follow in the Currahee Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors by the Georgia National Guard Honor Guard and the V.F.W. Post 4346 Honor Guard.
