Edythe Evalyn Dozier Smith, age 92 of Cumming, Georgia, passed away Monday, March 19, 2018 at Northside Forsyth Hospital. Mrs. Smith was born October 30, 1925 in Monticello, GA to the late John Wilmer and Bessie Compton Dozier. Edythe graduated from Commercial High School, retired from Air Products, Inc. and was a volunteer at North Fulton Hospital for 10 years.
Edythe was a loving mother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved working jigsaw puzzles, working in her yard and keeping up with her family and friends on Facebook. Edythe was a faithful member of Union Hill Baptist Church and is preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Matthew Smith; her grandson, Clayton Royce Olvey; brother, John Wilmer Dozier, Jr; sister, Rebecca Dozier Holbrook.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and June Smith of Cumming, GA; five grandchildren, Matt (Julie) Smith of Decatur, GA, Laura Nafe of Roswell, GA, Michael (Marie) Olvey of Vero Beach, FL, Brad (Amy) Olvey of Atlanta, GA and Vance (Betsy) Olvey of Vero Beach, FL; twelve great grandchildren; one great -great grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Thursday, March 22, 2018 at the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Stephen Harmon officiating. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery, 1680 Westview Drive, Atlanta, GA 30310. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 21st from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Thursday from 10:00 am until hour of the service.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Union Hill Baptist Church, 4250 McGinnis Ferry Road, Alpharetta GA 30005.
