Rev. Lewis Welch

Rev. Lewis Welch "Poppy", age 88 of Andrews went home to be with the Lord Saturday March 10, 2018. Lewis was the son of the late John W. and Mary Inglett Welch. Lewis retired from Baker Furniture and was Senior Pastor of Junaluska Baptist Church. He loved everyone he came in contact with. Lewis loved visiting, inviting people to go to church and witnessing for the Lord.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Welch; sisters, Betty Bohannon, Ruby Mitchell and Catherine Crowe and brothers, Tommy Ray, Charles and James Welch.

     He is survived by two sons, Ronald Welch and wife Teena of Gainesville, GA and Kenny Welch and wife Elizabeth of Andrews; daughter, Jackie Trammel of Andrews; sister, Edith Mills; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

     Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Andrews First Baptist Church. Rev. Tommy Seay, Rev. Joey Welch and Rev. Scott Strickland will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jacob Trammel, Gary Gray, Randy West, Melvin Hicks, Joe Lanphere, Brandon Gibbs, Patrick O'Dell, Donny Hulsey and Jewell Gaines. Burial will be in Red Marble Baptist Church Cemetery beside his beloved wife.

     The family will receive friends from 11 am-2 pm, Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Andrews First Baptist Church.

     In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Alzheimer's Unit at Murphy Rehab and Nursing, 3990 Hwy 64 Alt. Murphy NC 28906.
