Thad J. Watson, age 75, of Rabun Gap, Georgia passed away on March 12, 2018 at his home with his family surrounding him.
Thad was the son of the late Thad J. Watson Sr. and Stella Martin Watson Burrell and was born in Rabun County on January 1, 1943. Thad was the husband to the late Sandra Talley Watson. Thad was a hard worker, who worked with the Clayton Police Department and the Mountain City Police Department as a police officer as well as working security for the Dillard House and Mountain City Playhouse. Thad also worked in the auto body industry as well, and always instilled the value of work and family into all of his children.
In addition to his parents, and his wife, who preceded him in death, two sisters, Andrea Potts and Nedda Cline Burrell, preceded him in death.
His survivors include, his three sons, Thad J. Watson III, Tim Watson (Michelle), and Tony Watson (Nicky), all of Rabun Gap, Georgia; his daughter, Regina Watson Holbrook (Jeff), of Mountain City, Georgia; his two brothers, Varney Watson, of Rabun Gap, Georgia, Steven Burrell, of Franklin, North Carolina; one sister, Vivan Collins, of Otto, North Carolina; ten grandchildren, Whitney Holbrook, Elijah Holbrook, Joshua Holbrook, Hannah Watson, Katie Watson, Joseph Watson, Natalie Watson, Thomas Kelly, Ava Watson, Sayler Watson; two great-grandchildren, Skylar and Henry.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday Mach, 13, 2018 at the Beck Funeral Home in Clayton, Georgia from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday March 14, 2018 in the Chapel of the Beck Funeral Home at 11:00 am with the Rev. Ronia Hunter and Rev. Mickey Woods officiating.
A committal service will follow the funeral at the Betty’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Rabun Gap, Georgia with Mickey Justice officiating.
