Ruth C. Godson

Ruth C. Godson, 91, of Buford, Georgia, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2018 at her home 
surrounded by those she loved.

Born in Fairburn, Georgia, Mrs. Godson was the daughter of the late Ruth R. and Edgar L. Cochran. She 
was a graduate of Campbell High School in Fairburn. After spending a period of time in Dallas, Texas 
and Cincinnati, Ohio, she returned to Georgia where she met her future husband, Thomas S. Godson.  
Through the following years she worked in a variety of jobs.  Her favorite role, however, was always 
that of loving mother to her three daughters and adoring grandmother to her six grandchildren.  

Mrs. Godson was a longtime member of Doraville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, now 
Peachtree Corners Presbyterian Church.  She formerly served as church secretary, a Sunday school 
teacher, and loved singing in the church choir.  Ruth also enjoyed a number of hobbies: gardening, 
sewing, crafts, auto maintenance to name a few. She was a talented artist, seamstress, and an excellent 
cook. 

She was preceded in death by Thomas, her husband of 61 years. She is survived by her daughters, 
Beth McIntosh of Macon, Peggy Mueller (Paul) of Cumming and Susan Boland (Thomas) of Buford; 
and grandchildren Drew and Heather McIntosh, Michael, Adam and Mark Boland and Emily Mueller.  
The family also wishes to express their gratitude to her caregivers from Loving Care Senior Concierge, 
as well as her team from Agape Hospice. The quality of care and comfort given to Mrs. Godson by these 
special people was a blessing to all.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Prosperity Cemetery, 5674 Peachtree Road, Chamblee, GA 30341 with Rev. John Cook officiating.
